VanDusen Botanical Garden tickets can be booked online in advance or purchased at the VanDusen admission desk upon arrival.

    Parties of 10 or more people receive a 10% group discount. The discount is automatically applied when you add 10+ paid tickets to your basket on Showpass, or when you pay at the desk upon arrival. Preschooler tickets (free) are not included in the count of 10+ tickets.

    The 10-visit pack is available for purchase at the VanDusen admission desk. This is the perfect option for those that want to bring friends or family members to visit the Garden. Tickets in the 10-visit pack can be used for any visitor. Not valid for special events.

    The minimum age to visit the garden or conservatory without an adult / guardian is 13 years of age (a youth)


    A 13 year old may visit with younger children and without an adult or guardian present. For example, they could bring their younger siblings or children they are babysitting.

    One adult, senior or youth can supervise and accompany up to 5 children 0-4 years of age at the Garden and Conservatory

    If a group wanted to bring in 6 children that were all between 0-4 years old they would need at least two adult, senior or youth guardians to accompany them

    This ratio does not apply to daycares or school groups that register or book through our Education Department.

  • +A Safe and Welcoming Visit for All

    To ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all at the Garden and Conservatory, members must abide by the VBGA Member Code of Conduct and volunteers the VBGA Volunteer Handbook Code of Conduct and Respectful Workplace Policy. Additionally, the City of Vancouver has developed a Safe Access for Everyone Policy which covers everyone in their spaces. Issues that arise will be addressed as outlined in one or more of these policies, as appropriate.

  • +Garden Code of Conduct

    General Garden rules:

    • We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes and weather appropriate clothing. Shirts and shoes are required.
    • Walk and explore the garden along designated pathways and lawn areas only.
    • To protect our botanical collections, please do not pick or remove any plant materials such as flowers, seeds or foliage. All plant material must be left in the garden.
    • Dispose of waste in the garbage and recycling bins provided.
    • Baby strollers, wagons and wheelchairs are welcome. Please leave rollerblades, skate boards, and tricycles at home and lock up bicycles outside the Visitor Centre.
    • Working guide and service dogs are welcome. Leave pets at home.
    • Do not feed or handle wildlife.
    • Supervise children at all times. The minimum age to visit the garden without an adult or guardian is 13 years old (youth).
    • One adult, senior, or youth can supervise and accompany up to a maximum of five children 0 – 4 years of age. For example, at least two adults, seniors, or youth must accompany a group of six to ten children in the 0 – 4 age category. This ratio is not applicable for daycares and school groups that have booked through our education department.
    • Bring a picnic and a blanket to enjoy in the garden. Lawn chairs and coolers are permitted on the Great Lawn only. Portable grills are not permitted.
    • Keep personal items with you at all times. The garden is not responsible for lost or stolen belongings. If you find something in the garden that does not belong to you, return it to a staff member or volunteer.

    Prohibited at any time

    • Use of drones
    • Balls, frisbees, hula hoops, hockey sticks and other sports equipment.
    • Swimming in the lakes, ponds and waterfall.
    • Amplified music.
    • Outside alcohol. Alcoholic beverages are available for purchase at on-site licensed establishments.
    • Smoking of any kind, including vaping.
    • Tripods in garden beds or pathways. They may only be used in grassy areas.
  • +Conservatory Code of Conduct

    General Conservatory rules:

    • We recommend wearing layers at it is warm and humid inside. Shirts and shoes are required.
      Explore the conservatory along designated pathways only. Stay out of plant beds and watch for small birds on paths.
    • To protect our birds and tropical plant collections, do not bring any outside plant material or wildlife into the conservatory.
    • Do not pick or remove any plant materials such as flowers, seeds or foliage. All plant material must be left in the conservatory.
    • Dispose of waste in the garbage and recycling bins provided.
    • Baby strollers and wheelchairs are welcome. Leave rollerblades, skate boards, and tricycles at home and lock up bicycles outside the conservatory.
    • Working guide and service dogs are welcome. Leave pets at home.
    • Supervise children at all times. The minimum age to visit the conservatory without an adult or guardian is 13 years old (youth).
    • One adult, senior, or youth can supervise and accompany up to a maximum of five children 0 – 4 years of age. For example, at least two adults, seniors or youth must accompany a group of six to ten children in the 0 – 4 age category. This ratio is not applicable for daycares and school groups that have booked through our education department.
    • While you are welcome to take photos during your visit, photo shoots and elopements are not permitted during business hours. Visit our rentals page or commercial photography and filming page for more information.
    • Keep personal items with you at all times. The conservatory is not responsible for lost or stolen belongings. If you find something in the conservatory that does not belong to you, return it to a staff member or volunteer.

    • Smoking of any kind, including vaping.
    • Outside food or beverages other than bottled water.
    • Use of selfie sticks.
    • Feeding, touching, or handling the birds.
    • Touching the plants in our tropical plant collection.
    • Releasing pet birds or any other animals at the conservatory is strictly prohibited for the health and safety of our resident birds. If you are looking to rehome a bird, speak to our admissions staff for more information.
